THE SUITES at Wickham House
AdjProf Robert Schweitzer
Registrar Program Co-ordinator & Supervisor
Robert is currently Adjunct Professor of Psychology at Queensland University of Technology, where he established the post graduate program in clinical psychology, with a strong focus upon psychodynamic principles and practice.
He continues to practice as a psychodynamic psychotherapist, supervise registrars and engage in research. He has previously chaired the Queensland Psychology Board of Australia and has a strong commitment to research with over 150 publications in referred journals, book chapters and books. His research career includes a focus on psychotherapy process and outcome. Robert is endorsed in Clinical and in Counselling Psychology.
At The Suites, Robert has designed and co-ordinates the RELATE Psychodynamic Psychotherapy Registrar Program - a training program for Psychology Registrars who are looking to develop a solid foundation in and ability to formulate and practice effectively from a relational psychodynamic perspective, whilst also meeting their AHPRA requirements for practice endorsement.
Robert has designed this course to be a comprehensive and immersive small group learning experience, equipping registrars with the essential skills and knowledge to seamlessly integrate psychodynamic principles into their practice. This program allows registrars to connect with experienced Psychodynamically oriented clinicians, to build and establish a safe and supportive professional peer group.

Robert also provides psychodynamic psychotherapy at The Suites and specialises in working with adults to gain a deeper understanding of themselves and their relationships. Rather then focusing on diagnosis, he believes in understanding the unique experiences of each person and working with people to create a space for reflection and growth. His therapeutic approach aims to help individuals gain a deeper self-awareness, improve relationships, find relief from symptoms and experience personal development.
He approaches therapy collaboratively and with curiosity and aims to create a safe space for individuals to explore and process their inner world and emotional experiences. As a clinical psychologist and research - he values the relationship between patient and therapist as a key predictor of success in therapy. Robert's therapeutic approach is suited to individuals who wish to undertake a more explorative, and at times, a longer term approach to navigating their issues. Please feel welcome to contact our rooms should you wish to see Robert for individual therapy.
