A Training Program for Health Providers who are curious about applying Psychodynamically Informed Interventions within their Practice
Welcome to CURIOUS– a training program, that has been specifically designed for working health professionals who wish to develop a solid foundation in and ability to formulate and practice effectively from a relational psychodynamic perspective.
CURIOUS enables Health Professionals from a range of backgrounds to learn about and gain exposure to evidenced-based relational psychodynamic modalities of thinking and practice that highlight the way in which early developmental relational trauma predisposes, precipitates and perpetuates many psychological and psychiatric difficulties along with how to address these therapeutically.

Deanne
Dr Deanne Hawkins
Program Co-Ordinator
Deanne is a Clinical Psychologist and Board Approved Supervisor with over a decade of experience across the public and private sectors.
​
Parallel to her clinical practice, she has an interest in supporting and guiding registrars through the process of gaining clinical psychologist endorsement, with a focus on developing advanced clinical skills grounded in psychodynamically informed evidence-based practices.
Deanne completed her Honours Degree at The University of Queensland and postgraduate studies at Queensland University of Technology. She has also undertaken specialised training in the Conversational Model, an approach integrating neuroscience, attachment theory, and developmental psychology.
She is passionate about developing the next generation of Clinical Psychologists and committed to equipping registrars with the skills and knowledge needed for success in the field – all within a practice that she has thoughtfully designed to support, enrich and foster the professional and personal growth of supervisees.

Alan
Dr Alan Headey
Alan is a Clinical Psychologist and Board Approved Supervisor with over 17 years of experience across both public and private sectors.
Previously a Senior Clinical Psychologist at Mater Health Services for 13 years, Alan has developed extensive expertise in treating complex psychological conditions, including trauma (PTSD and stress disorders), complex medical illnesses, and issues related to spirituality and religion. He is also highly skilled in addressing anxiety, depression, and men’s health, and has worked with diverse populations across Queensland, Victoria, and Tasmania. He draws on this extensive clinical experience in his teachings and supervision of psychologists.

With a Double Major in Psychology with Honours from UQ and a Doctorate in Psychology (Health) from the University of Melbourne, Alan is deeply committed to the education and supervision of early career psychologists.
As a seasoned clinical supervisor and a member of the EMDR Association of Australia, he brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to his role as a supervisor in the CURIOUS program, supporting psychology registrars in their journey toward clinical endorsement.

Giac
Dr Giac Giacomantonio

Giac joins the teaching faculty and supervisory team at RELATE and CURIOUS, bringing extensive experience in psychoanalysis and clinical psychology.
He has lectured in psychoanalysis and clinical psychology and provided supervision in psychology and psychiatry training programs at the University of Queensland, Queensland University of Technology, and the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists. His teaching has covered Meta-psychology, Clinical Theory and Technique in Psychoanalysis, and Professional Ethics. His doctoral research at the University of Queensland explored Therapeutic Change and the adequacy of explanatory models in psychotherapy research.
Giac has published widely on psychotherapy process and outcome, psychoanalytic theory, and the intersection of psychology with music and culture. His work has appeared in Administration and Policy in Mental Health and Mental Health Services Research, American Journal of Psychotherapy, Psychotherapy in Australia, Australian Psychologist, and InPsych, among others. He has also presented on topics such as inequality and narcissism, oral sadism, and the function of the orgasm in psychoanalytic thought. In 2013, he recorded a video interview with Professor Arnold Goldberg of the Chicago Institute for Psychoanalysis.
With over two decades of experience supervising Psychologists, Psychiatrists, Psychotherapists, and Psychology students, Giac has a deep commitment to training and mentorship. He has a particular interest in Psychoanalysis and the Psychology of the Self, helping individuals understand their unique experiences, relationships, and patterns. His clinical work supports those seeking personal growth and self-understanding, as well as those facing challenges such as depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, and relationship difficulties.
Jaime
Dr Jaime Yasky
Dr. Jaime Yasky is a Clinical Psychologist and Psychotherapist with over 30 years of experience, specializing in psychoanalytic psychotherapy and the treatment of emotional and psychosomatic disorders.
As a seasoned educator and researcher, Jaime brings a wealth of expertise to the CURIOUS program, combining deep clinical insight with a passion for teaching and mentorship. Jaime has held pivotal roles in academic settings, including his current position as Program Coordinator for the Master of Mental Health, Faculty of Medicine at the University of Queensland.
His extensive teaching background spans both undergraduate and postgraduate levels in Chile and Australia, where he has delivered courses on clinical psychology and psychoanalytic theory. In these roles, Jaime has been dedicated to training the next generation of clinicians, particularly in navigating the complexities of psychotherapeutic practice and addressing challenging, multifaceted cases.

As a Board-Approved Supervisor and Fellow of the Australian Psychological Society, Jaime fosters professional growth through supervision focused on relational dynamics, risk management, and evidence-based treatment planning. His clinical experience spans public, private, and academic settings, including roles in Child and Youth Mental Health Services (CYMHS), university clinics, and private practice. He is particularly passionate about helping early career clinicians develop the skills needed to treat complex presentations, with a focus on psychosomatic issues and the therapeutic relationship as a mechanism for change.

Joe
Joe Coyne

Joe Coyne has worked for 30 years as an applied developmental psychologist in the area of child and family psychology and adult psychotherapy since graduating from a Master of Clinical Psychology. He has been specifically interested in developmental processes that lead to healthy outcomes, particularly the impacts of parenting and early life events on personal trajectories. This lead him through training in Behavioural Family Systems approaches to Object-Relations supervision and training to understand the interplay of family dynamics across generations.
Since the early 2000’s he has been exploring the benefits of incorporating attachment theory and research into contemporary treatment approaches for parents, children, and adults. This work led him to becoming an accredited therapist and supervisor for the Circle of Security Intensive intervention (2010 and 2011). In Australia he is an Endorsed Clinical Psychologist and Endorsed Educational and Developmental Psychologist.
In the past he has worked in Health services delivering family and parenting interventions, and supervising clinical staff, and prior to that in a trauma focused family service. From 2010-2024 he was on the staff of QUT, coordinating the Master of Psychology (Educational and Developmental), and then, from 2020-2023 also the Master of Clinical Psychology. Within the Educational and Developmental degree program he trained over 100 graduate students in the COS-Assessment and Formulation model and supervised over 20 in COS Intensive treatment within the Circle of Security parenting clinic.
Joe has had a longstanding interest in training providers in attachment and social neuroscience, starting back in 2000 when he began teaching attachment and neuroscience to foster parents and child protection staff, and then to child health staff. More recently he has developed a deep appreciation of Romania and since 2016 has been traveling there to support attachment informed practice through the COS framework. Since 2023 he has branched out and been training the COSP program to audiences in Australia and has enjoyed deeply the experience of connecting a broad range of practitioners to the COS model. He currently works as a consultant and trainer for Circle of Security International and in private practice.
Matthew
Prof. Matthew Bambling
Professor Matthew Bambling is a highly experienced Clinical Psychologist and Academic with a long-standing commitment to advancing mental health practice and research. He has contributed extensively to the fields of psychotherapy, clinical supervision, and mental health services, both in Australia and internationally.​
With a strong foundation in psychodynamic and a range of other therapies, Professor Bambling's work focuses on integrating evidence-based approaches to treat complex mental health presentations. He has held various academic and clinical roles, where he has mentored and supervised numerous students, clinicians, and researchers.
​Professor Bambling completed his training at The University of Queensland, where he also conducts research in psychotherapy effectiveness and mental health service delivery. He is passionate about developing advanced clinical skills in early career psychologists and is dedicated to ensuring that registrars are equipped with the knowledge, tools, and support needed for clinical endorsement.
His collaborative approach to supervision and teaching fosters both professional growth and personal insight, making him an invaluable asset to the CURIOUS program.
